1) What first inspired you to start acting?
As a child I was way too shy to have ever dared to voluntarily take to a stage, but as I grew up and found my confidence, I started to feel there was somewhat of a performer in me waiting to get a chance to come out. The idea of being able to embody a character completely unlike yourself seemed so fun and liberating!
2) How long have you been involved in theatre, and what past roles or productions are memorable for you?
I have only got into theatre and acting over the last 18 months, so relatively recently. The first performance I ever did would definitely be the one that is most memorable for me, which was playing the police inspector in a murder mystery evening. Actually being amongst the audience and both performing to them and interacting with them was so exhilarating, and a moment I’ll never forget.
3) What drew you to audition for “Gaslight”, and what do you enjoy most about your character?
I was looking for a role that was grittier and more serious that anything I’d done before that I could really get my teeth into, so when I saw the advert for the Gaslight auditions it just felt perfect. Mr Manningham has such contrasts within his character, with moments of lightness and humour and moments of dark, brooding anger. He’s a real rollercoaster, and so great fun to play!
4) What have you enjoyed most about being part of the Ember Players Theatre Company?
From the get go at the audition for Gaslight, everyone I have met through Ember Players has been so friendly, welcoming and easy to get on with. The sense of teamwork and building something together is great!
